While it's important to keep your cat away from plants that are hazardous to them to avoid tummy problems and trips to the doctor,  

it's much preferable to supplement your outdoor time with plants that your cat enjoys sniffing and/or nibbling on. 

A notable exception to this rule is lavender, which is typically fine for cats when it is dried but not when it is fresh.
