Walking or playing with your dog at the dog park is a terrific way to bond. Outdoor spaces are ideal for learning frequent leash walking faults or dog heeling commands.

No matter how well-behaved your dog is, another dog may charge at you off-leash. It can be an unpleasant surprise or actively harmful for you or your dog, and you can't stop them with the best dog treats.

you can stop a dog from charging. Adam Spivey, CEO of Southend Dog Training, answered an Instagram question on stopping a charging dog.

“Stand your ground,” he says, “Predators chase prey. Stamp your foot... Swing your lead to construct a windmill. Got an umbrella? Open that”.

A barking dog running toward you is a bluff, he says. When you leave, “that bluff becomes reality, and you've got a much higher chance of getting bitten”. 

If you persist and create noise, the dog may stop. Spivey says, “Obviously, there are no guarantees that you won't get bitten, but you stand less chance of getting bit if you stand your ground”.
